Redalienet> @thisisanfield @EuRED09 its suggest that BR is testing new ideas? again, after his time at Lfc BR should know what he is going to do, !!

Chris> 5:51pm Aug 10 "dont want him (BR)  to fail, just dont like him and his style, fickle, media man, said it from day 1, hes not a winner , and hes an FSG employee , which is now ruining what was a club and mentality to be proud of, now its all about image and money..."& Can isnt good enough , Milner player too deep and shd not be captain..lucky that Phils stunner  got the 3 points because Lfc didnt have a shot on goal until after an hour!..."

REdNET>  more of the same .....

:"Balotelli wasn’t interested in learning & adapting. A succession of pitiful excuses meant he regularly missed training."

Liverpool FC new boy Christian Benteke has surprised us says Brendan Rodgers"
REdNET> "EVERYthing seems to "surprise" BR, ... how many times has he "got it wrong" about top players,,,

BR' s: "I think Lovren’s gained the confidence from knowing he was going to start, and he stood up to the challenge really well today."  (Allen - type, favouritism, because his previous performances didnt justify selection) ????
BR.....""We knew we would have to defend well, and then we know we have the quality to go and win the game."   ... well Brent are u sying u planned NOT to shoot at their goal for more than an hour>>>??? hmmmm

REdNET>  "but Hendo, Luis & Studge arent playing together any more for Lfc!!!!"

Mark>  "Possible issue this year will be how to fit Milner, Hendo and Emre into the same side. Obviously not possible with a 4-2-3-1. Emre, in my humble opinion, is a better player than Hendo."
CRS> IMO I am a better blogger than u, :) and emre Can , cant!!  solve all problems stick LUCAS in the midfield ("holding" )

Lucas Leiva another (f. s .g.) wasted player

(fans being split about Lucas)
little surprise given that is how he has spent his eight years at Anfield,
constantly straddling the line of criminally underrated and completely unnecessary.

(CS> since Rafa left, as with many players , Torres, Masch, Skrtel, Alonso etc etc Rafa optimised the players talents
and BR is too green and inexperienced to do this..)

LFC> But a move from Merseyside would be seismic for one particular section of supporters,
a vociferous group who have become more frantic as the summer has progressed.
Signing Christian Benteke for £32.5m will bring goals,
(CS?? like Andy C.?? 32M is stll a lot of money)

while Nathaniel Clyne is an astute buy.  (CS> maybe >
James Milner could become a real bargain; (CS> not if BR plays him as deep as at Stoke...)

Roberto Firmino is exciting; Danny Ings can be a top option from the bench. (CS> exiting if proven, and Ings needs to be USED)

LFC> But where, they ask, fingers pulsing and heartbeat racing, is the midfielder the Reds need?
Even before a possible sale of the Brazilian was mooted, some felt the squad was light on that sort of player
– one who sits deep, breaks up play and dictates tempo on the ball.

To give it the uniform term: the defensive midfielder. To give it the Twitter term: the ‘DM’.
The clamour, from some, has been unavoidable.
What is a 'DM' anyway?
Even in our pre-season survey, when we asked fans which one player they wanted to see at Anfield,
the term ‘defensive midfielder’ was just beaten to top spot by Marco Reus, Alexandre Lacazette and Lucas Digne.
It was the only position where no names, and just the general concept, was enough.

It’s a wide-ranging term, of course. Some want a ‘DM’ to act as the destroyer,
the archetypal hard man who gets his knees dirty; others want the ‘DM’ to be an all-action midfielder,
athletic and strong, who will run for 90 minutes.

In theory, it makes sense. Lucas offers something few others – if any – do in the current squad;
an inclination to defend rather than attack, and a specialist in giving shape to the midfield.

Indeed, a soft centre has long been a criticism since Brendan Rodgers took charge at Anfield,
a far cry from the axis of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano from the late 2000s,
a duo to highlight the importance of holding midfielders.

(CS Lucas was often declared as "best ball winner and interceptor of opponent passing" during the dayz of Xabi and Masch!)

LFC> Alonso had the distribution, Mascherano the determination; together, a title challenge formed upon that foundation.
Has Rodgers ever used a DM?

That sort of set-up has long departed, for better or worse. Even in the 2013-14 season, so glorious on the front foot,
it was felt the Reds would have benefited with another body alongside Steven Gerrard to stop some of the 49 goals flying
 past Simon Mignolet.

(CS, it was without doubt for me, that "teachers pet Allen" was far too often selected in front of Lucas when fit
even a few goals kess conceded WOULD HAVE WON the long awaited Title, and OUR STEVIE would have finished a perfect
career WITH supporters like myself not leaving with him after a lifetime commitment...)

LFC> But then, sacrificing a player such as Philippe Coutinho or Raheem Sterling would have taken from the attacking force
which plundered, curled and fired in 101 goals over the course of 38 games.

(CS >  >?>>>>   ???  neither Phil or Raheem were "automatic" that season???)

The compromise was made with the diamond formation, but that saw Lucas and Allen further ahead of Gerrard,
(CS> YET another BR mistake,  wasting the attacking creativity , passing and shooting POWER of SG!!)

LFC> rather than in a traditional holding role.
This, perhaps, is the crux of the issue.
Liverpool’s best-ever spell under Rodgers came with an unorthodox defensive midfielder, Gerrard,
 sitting and spraying passes. The much-used, much-maligned term of ‘quarterback’ was associated with the role;
Gerrard was not there to simply protect the defence, but to be a further attacking asset in a deeper position.

(CS> the "cRUX" is that BR is a novice , who hasnt won a thing! SG and Lucas were intelligent enough to have formed
the twin role, but BR "exagerates" due to hos own ego, to prove that he can command a genius like SG, restricted him)

Lfc> Rodgers has also used Joe Allen – small, slight, the antithesis of a defensive midfielder
 – as the deepest role, with James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Emre Can also utilised there in recent weeks.

(CS> none of them should be playing there....)

Lfc> All of those have energy, all of those can press high and move across the pitch –
but all can have a telling impact in the final third, with the dynamism to get forward and operate higher up the pitch.

(CS> but NONE of them can protect the Lfc defence, which due to lack of unity NEEDS it)

LFC> Lucas, the most typical defensive midfielder in the squad, does not.

(thats not his role,,,, Lucas will win points by saving them)

LFC> Does a DM fit the system?
A lot of Rodgers’ successful spells at Liverpool,
(CS> "spells" ?? Kenny won a trophy, ..  and was removed after ONE full season...BR is a YOUNG media/yes man, Henry keeps him....,,,)

LFC>in terms of performances on the pitch, have come when all players are comfortable on the ball.
That, after all, was part of Rodgers’ reputation when he arrived from Swansea in 2012.

Add that to the fact this is the seventh transfer window the Reds boss (? nithing "boss" about BR!).. has not bought a
replacement or competition for Lucas, and it seems this sort of player is not in the Rodgers mould.

(CS> Key point ; CHAMPION TEAMS are built on defence ,,, because we still get a point when we dont score,,,)

LFC> It would be unfair to both Lucas and other defensive midfielders to write off their footballing ability
and present them as nothing more than bodies to get in the way.

(CS,,.. "bodies in the way" stop us CONCEDING !!  its called DEFENDING..._)

LFC> That is not true. Rodgers, after all, has handed Lucas 60 league starts in three seasons.
(CS and often those "selections, ONLY 20 games a season..?) were in and out of the team and in the wrong position..!)
The Brazilian is accurate with the ball at his feet, can produce intelligent passes and reads the game well. He would be an asset to most squads.
But perhaps not in Rodgers’ any more. Not him, nor the traditional defensive midfielder.
=Liverpool started with Henderson deepest in midfield at Stoke; Can would soon move into that role.
The German, in particular, caught the eye. As the game entered stoppage time, nails bitten to the bone,
he careered back towards his own goal, slid in on Marco van Ginkel, and executed a perfectly-timed sliding challenge.
Once back on his feet, he raced up the field to offer himself for a pass higher up once more.

(CS.. you need to look at the many defensive errors CAN made last year, and neither Hendo nor Milner shd be so deep_)

LFC> That élan is something Can must still master, but he is still just 21. He,
like Henderson and even Allen, are not limited to the back foot, but can also operate on the front foot.

(CS> JUST how many goal did Allen and Hendo create / score last season??)

LFC> Defenders of Lucas – and the DM role in general –
 would point to how well the Reds performed with the 28-year-old in the side last season;
they won 63.6% of league games with him in the side, just 27.7% without.
However, the season before, the figures were much different
 – 55% of games won with him as a starter, 83.3% without.
 His presence over the past two seasons has also averaged around a goal fewer on average per game;
while the amount of goals conceded have decreased, it is not quite as drastic as a goal a game.

(CS> When Lucas was recovering from a bad injury....)

LFC> That is not to disparage the loyal midfielder, but rather highlight why that sort of player
is not needed when a Rodgers side is at their best. Not one who is affordable, anyway.
("when at their best" ha ha and then U state not needed ...because of price?? contradict yourself? )
After starting him in the opening game of the first three campaigns,
he was nowhere to be seen at the Britannia – a change of direction confirmed.
Lucas’ Anfield future is uncertain, but one thing is for sure: if the evolution of Rodgers’ midfield continues,
he may be the last of his kind in a Liverpool starting 11 for a while

(CS> The writer is an "F S G clone" ,,,... apologetuc forthe wrong decisions, selections and tactics of f s g employee ; Rodgers,,,
I PREDICT that LFC will NOT win the title , even in one of the WEAKEST EPLs EVER,, without LUCAS playing at his BEST position
or without a TRUE DM,  a mature head not available in the squad... unless LFC bring back Masch!! ha ha ha)

too much LFC PROPER GANDA!! ;)

New ScLOG, same problem and departing REd SOUL

The "fickle ones"  will be hoping over experience that BR and f s g dont foul up Lfc in the new season any more than they
already have

How Anfield will be transformed: in to………………. a USA shopping mall

Lfc have faced no real 'quality' opposition in pre season games this summer, its all about Marketng…does BR have a clue?
Following comments claming Liverpool’s decreasing support in Asia, Henry Jackson feels the Reds are lacking both global stars and success.

More BS from T I A …Lucas is Obvious hoice to anyone with intelligence..
“With Liverpool’s team taking shape ahead of the 2015/16 season, defensive midfield remains a rare area of the pitch where first-choice is up for debate. (H.Jackson)”

amazing how the scumedia always focus on Lfc failures (but thanks to BR/F S G there ARE too many!..)

New Liverpool forward Danny Ings has claimed that he is the perfect man to spearhead the Reds’ attack, stating that his ability to run in behind will bring out the best in the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino – the more creative players in the side.

Teixeira: "I haven’t spoken to the manager much yet about where I fit into his plans but hopefully we'll speak about that back in Liverpool."

CS> Lfc don’t have a “manager” hes a novice coach who hasn’t won a thing..

More “nobodies” managing the kids…?   Henry  dumped a genuine class act ..Rudolfo!

BR on the BS again…
BR … apparently goes with 4 3 3 and Benteke “will fit in” … just how many times will the fan nies overlook BR contradicting himself again, is Benteke any much different to the way Andy played for Lfc?
