not quite the first or last word.....

fans and mainSCREAM media focus not only on Lfc attacking footy but first question in the above presser is about "defensive improvement"  ..
Apart from the aspect that Lfc have not played against a team above them in this unbeaten period, I would like to put this to bed.. for the time being, at least!

The defensive unit needs maturity, a lot of defending is not only protecting the goal with marking or offside line, corners (attack the ball please, dont look only at opposing forwards) ... its also about closing down space and instinctively "guessing" the movement of opponents..  Goalies and CBs especially do not usually "mature" until mid-late 20 years old,  my horror at the removal of Pepe & dAgger was because it left us with mainly inexperience at the back..

Pepe got crucified for a couple of difficult games, all goalies make mistakesm but the fan nies and idiots pundits missed all that Rene gave the team, he was like a CB, he organised and his distributioin WAS/is THE BEST of any goalkeepers i have ever seen, he even "assisted goals" ... !

So, when he was forced away, with BS "rumours" Lfc loast a leader, as with Danny,  and Mignolet took over, then a young player, who was not ready to be a champion for the team coached by BR in 2014,  now Karius is young , proposed as number 1, is , if ever, several seasons away from comanding the role, so Mignolet must be automatic, and one of Lovren & Klavan educated... if as it seems VVD may not be  coming to Lfc! (and even at his best would take time to "slot in" considering he has not been able to return to his best form at Soton, he may not be an answer in the short term!)

having said all that, IF JK manages to train the whole team to defend as a unit, Lfc can still challenge for the title, of course rotation erodes understanding and unity, in defence and in team play, the best teams i have seen or even played in, at any level, knew where and how the team mates would move and react without thinking and that makes a shape that works as one...!

"Ridiculous"

The way Salah plays!!  20 goals ... and he misses quite as many!!!!! .... he is like a kid , its raw talent at its best...

but....     I do not care how well, or "unstopable" citeh are, with over half a season to play, its ridiculous to say they are champions,  maybe their players start to believe and get "acmilan" arrogance..in football , as in life, everything is possible.....
(aldo , a good players for Lfc, however, is yet another "pundit" has bought into this BS too... aldridge-liverpool-are-the-second-best-team-in-england-right-now-and-playing-far-better-than-boring-man-united

on friday Lfc go to London to play an arsenal side who form improved since they were battered at Anfield earlier this season. However, if arsenal play their usual game, and Lfc repeat the form of the 0-4 win at B'mouth , when, apart from Defoe hitting the post, were shut out whilst the REdS were rampart and could easy have had 10 goals.. for me , this was even better than the 0-7 awat at Maribor, or win at wham or stoke....

AIon friday

  1. AFC Bournemouth -  Liverpool 4
  1. REdNeT H-T B"mouth 0- LIVERPOOL 3 ..
  2. Phil, Dejan and Mo.. looking sharp again when given room to play, we've been here before so, come one keep on top of it, had a let off when Defoe hit post, but Lfc could have had six, some of the inter-passing and speed of movement, was great to watch
  3. full time 0-4
  4. with Firm adding a fourth goal, Lfc cruised, had the run of the ball and sometimes the bounce went their way, but the movement on & off the ball was as good as any this season, the home side didnt have any answer maybe 2 on target, solid.
  5. Gomez, Klaven and Robbo playing in a way that makes LB his,, .. excellent Ox also looked sharp and i liked how he and the midfield were winning first and 2nd balls with positive interventions and solid tackles,, Lalla , Solanke, & Ings got on and all 3 could have scored b mouth have to be lucky it wasnt more, Lfc could have scored 10 ...and I loved that they were chasing balls and pressing well into extra time..

    2. Mohamed Salah was part of the Chelsea side which won at Anfield in April 2014 to leave the Reds’ Premier League title dreams in tatters.
      However, Salah
“It was while I was at Chelsea that I first got to play at Anfield,”
“I can remember I told myself ‘I have to come here one day and play’ after I’d experienced that atmosphere. That atmosphere was unbelievable. Now I am even happier to play for Liverpool here.
“Why were Liverpool the right club for me? Because of many things. I even used to play as Liverpool on the PlayStation on FIFA when I was 18 or 19 as Steven Gerrard, Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen and Xabi Alonso. I also remembered that atmosphere again and it came into my mind.”
      “I’m very happy here,”
“In all honesty I don’t go out much, I just stay at home with family and they really like Liverpool too. At home I like to watch TV to relax or read a book. It changes my mood, I’m not just watching and thinking about football all the time. I’ll also watch videos about how to improve yourself."
“I understand Scouse but it’s very difficult! The accent is so hard to understand. Flanno’s (Jon Flanagan’s) accent is the worst one, I cannot understand anything from him. The way he is talking is like he’s not talking normally!
“I am happy when the fans sing my name. It makes you feel like ‘wow’. It changes your emotions. I have to thank the fans very much for singing my name. Really, I respect it a lot.

“As a team I know we haven’t won the Premier League for a long time so I would love to win it with Liverpool. We have a great team, we have a great manager so everything is good at the club. I am sure we can win trophies here together.”

    5. @RedAlieNeT ANY MORE echo "SPIN"?? Jk , you play your best team in BIG games , against main rivals and in derbies, you rest/rotate for the others, if you must, got it wrong twice in one week, no excuses..

@RedAlieNeT usual Bascome BS! MORE "SPIN"?? Jk , you play your best team in BIG games , against main rivals and in derbies, you rest/rotate for the others, if you must, got it wrong twice in one week, 4 points dropped, no excuses.."hamstrung Sala" then starts v W. Brom!!!
    7. dont you know that ? here you are only allowed to praise Jk, and the TAW writers? if being a failed manager excludes pundits, then remove just aboiut all of them, ... to paraphrase " if you can (manage) do, if you cant...pundit! :) the situation is that Lfc have NOT beaten , the big teams this season, as they were, last, the current side have not won against those above in the league, nor in the derby, nor in finals there is a point when "unlucky" dont count!...
    8. just perhaps, as nasty as Keane, was and is, he has a point... however unpopular he will always be with Lfc fans ; that perhaps the "bigger teams" have sussed Jk out..? ... we shall see , I found proimising moments in recent games that I hope show hes learnt, then in the last 2 games...not....!! anything is possible in footy!... me, I could do without the inconsistency, on & off the field! https://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2017/12/roy-keane-rips-into-liverpool-again-but-hes-wrong-about-the-reds/
    9. its allowed to question JK, (despite other comments) as I believe he gets (germanic) fixation on a system and lacks the spontaneous reaction.. (see his subs & selections) ... rightly sees (some) need to rotate, but, for me, in the wrong games, not against rivals (i,.e those currently above Lfc in the table) and NOT in a derby game which , you rightly state is more than just points! ... good article , yes I am a "Rafafan" ha ha!
    10. JK dropped 4 points this week , maybe one of those days will happen from time to time, but has really got to show that "we have learned" and not keep saying "all good" ..not yet it isnt, but it could be!
there is intelligence @ TAW, after all!
      thanks

  4. Head-to-head

At Arsenal: Liverpool 21 wins, 31 draws, Arsenal 40 wins.
Overall: Liverpool 71 wins, 50 draws, Arsenal 64 wins.

    Goals, goals, goals

The 0-0 draw in north London last season was the first scoreless game between the Reds and Arsenal in 42 meetings in league and cup.
And than the latest game a trashing 4-0 at Anfield

    Hat-trick heroes

Nine hat-tricks have been scored by Reds players in league games against Arsenal, the most recent from Peter Crouch in a memorable 4-1 victory at Anfield in March 2007.
You have to go back nearly 90 years for the last – and only – time a Liverpool player has scored three at Arsenal. Gordon Hodgson hit a treble in a 4-4 draw in the capital in October 1918.

    Highs and lows

The Reds’ biggest Premier League win at Arsenal is also their most recent – a 2-0 victory in August 2011, which came courtesy of an Aaron Ramsey own goal and a late strike from Luis Suarez.
However, that remains Liverpool’s only win at the Emirates in 13 visits to the Gunners’ new home – and their only victory of their last 20 trips to the red side of north London in all competitions.

    Opening-day history

Liverpool and Arsenal have previously met seven times on the opening day of a league season. The Reds have won four times and lost just once.

A visit to Highbury in August 1987 saw the Reds return to Merseyside with a 2-1 victory that set Kenny Dalglish’s side on the way to the title.

Nip and tuck – but the Reds edge it

Liverpool’s head-to-head record with the Gunners in the Premier League era could hardly be more evenly-matched.

Of the 49 league meetings since the division’s inception in 1992, Liverpool have won 17, with Arsenal coming out on top 15 times and 17 ending in draws.

no reason for a jan departure, Lfc are cash rich, and dont need to sell, he must wait, dont care how much Barca offwe, and really, I woukld ask him, “you really want to go there, you dont need the money, you will be one of many in a club that may not maintain its european domination in future, OR become a legend, make some magic and be the man who helps win the Premiere league for Lfc? … just wish it wasnt Henry & co who would profit…either way! clubs been in a mess ever (in football terms , not financial) since USA corp infested…
