LIVERPOOL v man c.. european champions cup a.k.a. "champions league" (censoRED updated)

LIVERPOOL v man c..

11th April...11h ..a bit sober, and reflecting, why I was confident..before the first game Mo, was interviewed and said "I have a GOOD feeling"  ..hmmm yes , I agree... thenjust before the game started ..the Tv showed all the blue & white "decor" around the rich boys stadium... and it reminded me of Graz and Stamford bridge, plastic flags, plastic fans .... plastic players = another PLASTIC CLUB! :p

er............ still drunk 07hrs local time.. but anyway...here goes,,

Match report? ... not really ... just share how I feel, 10 years of USAcorp infesting my club, cannot dampen the feeling of calm and joy inside me... there is not much left in a world full of liars and cheats to enjoy, ..so I am stiill drunk from it all ..the underdogs, the outsiders, the Team that bookmakers ignored... still has the REd spirit that I grew up with..... locally the game wasnt even featured as the : "main match" ...... which made it even funnier that Roma dunped Barca out too.. oh Phil ..how do you feel now?? I live in a beautiful country but, with thousands of spoiled brats...and was the only one in the "sports bar" to stand up and applaud the TV screen,, the locals had just seen their team beaten in basket (you know, the girl game /...net ball) before footy started... Lfc were never rated, just like in 2005 .. I am NOT a "KLOPPite" i still think he will only be someone if & when he wins a major title, but thats now "only" 3 games away...all in life or footy is possible,, and all the fickle fan nies of Lfc or other clubs should remember /....,.

i have the spirit ... (probably 50% alchohol in my bidy right now) and i willied us through , in a first half, when Lfc looked shaky... VVD ...yes was fouled by raheem, BUT ..what the F&^^ was he doing walzing down the left wing...?? Pep apparently didn't like the Ref, he certainly was a strange choice even by UEFA idiots.( a spanish Max wall?) . later booking VVD for ...? and sending Pep to the stands.. ha ha ha ... it was a mad feeling.. watching Lfc win at citeh, and in a way cleaning the result earlier in the league,,, I wanted Sadio to step up, instead he stepped in to Citeh...what a weird game.. without playing that well, Lfc won, again! ... Trent was ok.. Robboi quiet, Lovren ok, OX quieter, Firm never really got into it , but scored, Mo same, (yet another goal) ... Milner worked hard as per... Wijn, almost un-noticed.. and the Lfc GK...well.. didn't have that many shots to save...considering the ball possession of citeh... I wanted Juergen to do the "Al Pachino" motivation speech, maybe he did it at half time, because they did nothing in the first half , who cares? ...its Lfc in the hat for the semis... and I AM MADE UP!!! :D

man citeh 1 LIVERPOOL 2

aggregate ; LIVERPOOL FIVE ...bigger RICHER manc club only ONE! and ..bye bye! citeh & barca!!! ho ho ho!

btw...

european champions cup a.k.a. "champions league"

away; citeh v LIVERPOOL

Wijnaldum ; my MoTM ...will probably play in the usual role of Hendo , suspended after a booking in the Anfield leg, (Raheem should have been booked also for retaiation?)

and Karius needs to be sharp..!
Mane needs to step up, take the pressure off MO and go at the citeh defenders, Sadio got a Red card in the league game here, and revenge for that 5-0 defeat needs cleaning up....

Clyne was back in the goodison game ..solid, but I expect having rested Trent, the lad who did so well last wednesday should be back in perhaps with a back 3 CBs VVD, Lovren AND Klavan, who is usually sound in defence..

• The Reds have played six European Cup ties against domestic rivals, beginning against Nottingham Forest FC in the 1978/79 first round (0-2 away, 0-0 home).• Their remaining five all-English ties have all come in the UEFA Champions League era:
2004/05 semi-finals: Chelsea FC W 1-0 (0-0 a, 1-0 h)
2006/07 semi-finals: Chelsea FC W 4-1pens (0-1 a, 1-0 h aet)
2007/08 quarter-finals: Arsenal FC W 5-3 (1-1 a, 4-2 h)
2007/08 semi-finals: Chelsea FC L 3-4 (1-1 h, 2-3 a aet)
2008/09 quarter-finals: Chelsea FC L 5-7 (1-3 h, 4-4 a)
• Liverpool also played out two goalless draws against Chelsea in the 2005/06 group stage.
• The Reds have therefore never won an away European game against an English club (D5 L4); their record against domestic rivals overall is W6 D8 L5.
• Liverpool were 7-0 winners at NK Maribor on matchday three, their club record European away victory. They also won 5-0 at FC Porto in the round of 16 first leg, going through by the same aggregate score.
• They have nevertheless won just four of their last 17 European away games (D8 L5), having drawn 1-1 at FC Spartak Moskva in their first Group E away match and let slip a 3-0 half-time lead to draw 3-3 at Sevilla FC in this season's group stage. Before triumphing at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in their play-off first leg, the Merseysiders' last away success had been a 1-0 UEFA Europa League group stage win at FC Rubin Kazan on 5 November 2015.
• Liverpool have triumphed in 29 UEFA competition ties when they have won the home first leg – most recently against City's neighbours Manchester United FC in the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League round of 16 (2-0 home, 1-1 away) – and lost only five. Four of those aggregate losses came after a one-goal margin in the home first leg; the exception was the 1964/65 European Cup semi-final against FC Internazionale Milano, when a 3-1 home win was overturned by a 3-0 reverse in Italy.
• The Reds have also won all four ties in which they triumphed 3-0 at home first time out, including the 1972/73 UEFA Cup final against VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-0 home, 0-2 away).
• Liverpool's record in four UEFA penalty shoot-outs is W3 L1:
4-5 v Beşiktaş JK, 2014/15 UEFA Europa League round of 32
4-1 v Chelsea FC, 2006/07 UEFA Champions League semi-final
3-2 v AC Milan, 2004/05 UEFA Champions League final
4-2 v AS Roma, 1983/84 European Champion Clubs' Cup final

everton V LIVERPOOL

CS> report? ...
the quietest merseyside derby i can ever remember... even with a 50% squad selection, blues arrely threatened, and apart from Jagielka, Coleman & Sneiderlin (and Bokesi?) coming close with some heavy challenges , no yellow says how tame this game!

I think Lovren has never seen so much of the ball! the one time he advanced with it he almost assited Milly, who flashed a shot across pickfords goal from just inside the pen area, blues had about 30 seconds of pressure late on, and I wonder if Mane & Firmino had finished the game, 3 points could have been won...

but no complaints, I said before the game a point is enough because of next tuesday could lead to glory...long overdue ...

Mane looked sharp although rarely got into the dangers areas, Ings worked his socks off, but lack of match fitness showed in hs and Dom's performance.. Solanke had a snap chance to win it early on, and I apologise for saying that MO probably woudl have cushioned and placed it in, but Dom has time ahead...

Clyne was his stead self, Hendo worked the game with Milly seeming to be everywhere.. VVD never broke sweat?... Klavan, like Clyne, is not an attracking FB... so Lfc lost a lot of the wing play that penetration by Trent and Robbo brings, but a solid enough shift from both, good to have at least one extra defender available Tuesday, I would go with 3 at back, ... anyway;

Ox was up for repeating his drive from the game v citeh...just over the bar, Firm was just havign a "run out" .....and my MoTM .

..

Gini Wijnaldum...bossed the deep midfield play for most of the game from a holding position, and noticably Hendo, who will be missing v citeh moved forward to allow Gini to get comfortable.in the role.... but of course the citeh midfield shoudl be a lot stronger than the goodison mob...

Was hoping a couple of the kids might get a look in...however...

overall , felt more like a friendly game than a merseyside derby...but that point will do, for now,, and all our attention, players and supporters, (and backroom staff) must now focus on moving into the european semis, same again LEASE!

Liverpoo starters l: Karius; Lovren, Van Dijk, Klavan; Clyne, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Milner; (subbed late on) Mane,(subbed late on) Ings, Solanke

I was sort of hoping JK might play the kids...Milly& Mane taken off to hopefully save something for tuesday , he was outstanding v citeh! wednesday!

Substitutes: Mignolet, Masterson, Alexander-Arnold, (on late) Moreno, Oxlade-Chamberlain (on late), Jones, Firmino (on late)

PREVIEW ..... do not forget it is over TWO games .. doesnt have to be won at Anfield... my choice would be to play a mixed under 23/squad team @ goodison saturday, and focus on this tie.. whatever the result tomorrow...  citeh are a great side, but NOT invincible ..!

HOWEVER , Matip is out for the rest of the season, ... ( Can , Lalla,  Ben, KLavan, all out, but so is Sergio for citeh... ) .. so I would stick with 3-5-2 but play Hendo deeper as a back 3 with Dejan and VVD,   bring Wijn. (who has had good games against citeh) in alongside Milly amd Ox,  with Trent and Robbo virtual winger-backs.. and Firm supporters MO , who should be :free; to cause citeh problems at the sharp end,,  Mane I woudl bring on at 60 mins and tell him to run at their defence, run them ragged when the citeh players may be tiring..
do not switch to defensive structure, but keep the ball , in the other half...if well in front..

and ROBBO!!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynYClXz3Hxw

Shanks before Bob, .CHECK SPELLING LADS?.

i80402
I would be tempted to start the tie at Anfielkd tomorrow with the selection that finished the game @ Palace.. because for me, Mane isnt quite right , and have him as an impact to stretch weary legs late on could be a bonus tactic... i would go with 3-5-2;  with 3 at back Matip, Lovren and VVD ;  allowing Trent and Robbo to wing it..  Hendo, Milly (or Wijn) and OX (with his energy to battle it out in midfield,  Firm supporting MO .. who should sit on the shoulders of the citeh defence..  but i rarely agree with Jk...ha ha...  i dont care who he plays if Lfc wins through against the favourites.. .,.

4-3 :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52qa7bx7L6M

Shanks ... would love to be there...
