latest updates & more (world club trophy +)

LIVERPOOL v watford

Saturday 14th December #19 ...  Anfield

uk 12.30 (c.e.t 13.30h)

I dont like early kick offs/... and less time for prep..
With a tiring game at Salzburg behind them and last 16 qualification, I would expect & propose a change or 2 saturday before goign off to the World club tour  https://montv-2019/12/update-to-idiocracy-u-sheeple-have-made

... Dejo is out for sure ..  the hard working Gini maybe gets a rest, so, this:

                                                      AB
                                        Joe                VVD
    Trent                                     Hendo                         Robbo

                         Ox                                   Milly (or Shaq)

             Mo                          Origi                         Mane

Joe is IMO the best CB (centre Back, not centre half) partner for VVD, but have to be careful because Deeny is a thug.. The REdS need to ignore the pundits and play 200% from the start and keep the momentum, before going away to the "World club trophy holiday in Quatar" :)

MainSCREAMed1A;  (what? to expect v watford ..? edited by CRS)

After a week's graft on the training ground, pearson takes charge of his first game as watford manager - but they do not come much tougher than this.
Against the league leaders. At the fortress that is Anfield - Liverpool have not lost here since April 2017 and have won their last 15 in a row on home turf. One thing is for sure - pearson will have them scrapping for every ball and it will not be a breeze for Liverpool. The Reds earned a rare clean sheet at bournemouth last weekend and JK has challenged them to add more. Whether they can do that here remains to be seen. After all, watford do have some attacking threats in their ranks despite being the league's lowest scorers. With players keen to impress  they can at least try their luck.
Key stats
  • Liverpool’s last three home Premier League games against watford have seen them win 6-1, 5-0 and 5-0. No side has ever won four consecutive home games by a margin of 5+ goals against an opponent in top-flight history.
  • Liverpool are guaranteed to be top of the Premier League table at Christmas – the last three occasions of a team failing to win the title having been top at Christmas have been Liverpool (2008-09, 2013-14 and 2018-19). The only side to be top of the league table at Christmas in consecutive years and fail to win the title both times was everton in 1894-95 and 1895-96.
  • Liverpool have won their last 15 home top-flight matches – they’ve only had one longer run at Anfield in their history, winning 21 in a row between January and December 1972.

  • Liverpool have scored a league-high 10 headed goals in the Premier League this season, with no player in the division netting more headers so far this term than Virgil van Dijk (3). Indeed, the Reds have scored more headed goals (10) than watford have scored in total in 2019-20 (9).

  • Liverpool’s Mo Salah has been involved in seven goals in four Premier League appearances against watford (6 goals, 1 assist). Teammate Sadio Mané has been involved in eight goals in five games against them for the Reds (5 goals, 3 assists), while fellow forward Bobby Firmino has been involved in eight in his last six against the Hornets (5 goals, 3 assists).

good that u mention the election...
rare exception to the hype amongst fakers at "Blood REd" ..did you vote tory too? fen way are sharks, the attempt to trademark LIVERPOOL should have woken you up, but you contin ue to swallow the USAcorp propaganda fed you by the boardroom sharks, OF COURSE they wanted to tie JK to Lfc , he and you, who pay their ticket prices and buy the rip off replica shirts & stiff from the shops.. are being conned.. as for the signing.. Naby looked like this before he came, calm the feck down! like little kiddies at xmas.. your UK has just been sold into the swamp by tory voters ... you think that Brexit wont have any effect? how about VVD & Gini losing their employment rights if Brexit goes fundemental .. ..as for LIVERPOOL v watford.. a lot of smug arrogance around.. Joe is IMO the best CB (centra Back, not centre half) partner for VVD, but have to be careful because Deeny is a thug.. The REdS need to ignore the pundits and play 200% from the start and keep the momentum, before going away to the "World club trophy holiday in Quatar" :) https://chrismithlog.blogspot.com/2019/12/rednet-update-still-here-and.html

European Champions trophy defence .. last group game,,

no time for a training schedule as the TEAM are off to salzburg...  I propose and expect Jk to select his "first team" #19 ... (from season 18/19)..

: Liverpool will be the 1st top-flight team ever to play in 5 competitions in 27 days: CL: Tomorrow PL: Dec 14, 21, 26,…

if all fit.... i propose...

                                 AB

                         Joe        VVD

Trent                      Hendo                   Robbo

                   Gini                  Milly

                              "the Firm"
                                                    Mane
              Mo...

preview.. (splife, edited) .. "  Liverpool’s heavy rotation over the last 2 games has, including injuries, meant none of Fab, Mo, Bobby, Mane, Trent, and Hendo have started both of the games against everton and bournemouth. And yet Liverpool won both, scoring eight goals from seven different players, with Naby Keita’s goal meaning they have surpassed last year’s total with 16 different scorers in 2019/20.

The idea Liverpool lack strength in depth has been refuted for good. In fact, the likes of Keita, Ox, and Shaq bring entirely different qualities to the team, shaking Liverpool out of well-worn attacking grooves that increase the club’s creativity in short bursts. Either that or an eight-point lead has simply relieved pressure to such an extent that Liverpool’s fringe players have played above themselves...."
It’s pretty simple for Liverpool as they head to Austria just needing to avoid defeat to progress through what has turned out to be a tricky group, in which napoli have proved to be their nemesis again. salzburg, and haaland in particular, showed at Anfield that they’re more than capable of testing the LIVERPOOL side and they can still go through with a victory so they’re sure to give it even more of a go than usual.
(USA) marsch’s side have scored more than anyone bar bayern and tottenham in the group stages, and were unlucky to lose to napoli 3-2 at the Red Bull Arena – that and the reverse at Anfield are their only two defeats of the season. The Reds got their first clean sheet in 14 games against bournemouth, & they look invincible domestically.
 Opta stats
  • Liverpool have only won two of their last 11 Champions League away group stage games (W2 D3 L6), losing four of the last five (W1). The Reds last won consecutive away group games in the competition back in September 2008 under Rafa Benitez.
  • salzburg have won 15 and lost just one of their last 20 home games in European competition (inc. qualifiers), with that defeat coming last time out on home soil vs napoli.
  • Neither Liverpool or salzburg have kept a UEFA Champions League clean sheet this season. The Reds could become only the second reigning champion to fail to keep a clean sheet in their first six matches of the following campaign, after real madrid in 2016-17 (first 10 games).

Ox, Naby & Mo...

MotM; the Team!

with 7 changes and as we proposed Naby & Ox in midfield, it was too easy,  the bournemouth players looked scared from the start, I keep shouting "shoot" because until the first goal (Ox from Hendo's accurate pass) Liverpool passed it when often a shot was on, as the home team backed off and gave the REdS space ... I havent felt as relaxed at i did in the 2nd half since a long time... well done, and nice to see Joe back at CB and hope this away performance is reflected in another good away performance tuesday at Salzburg...

sporting life mainSCREAMed1a ;

howe has been one named linked with a potential vacancy at everton, but his focus remains firmly on a bournemouth side who are looking to snap a four-game losing run The bad news for them is that Liverpool are the one team you don't want to face when aiming to bounce back. who  beat their Merseyside rivals 5-2 in midweek and will be full of confidence heading into this one.
The power they possess in attack needs no further explanation. Even with the absence of Mo Salah and Bobby  in their starting line-up on Wednesday, the Reds still demonstrated little issue in finding the net. That's not to say that bournemouth won't have opportunities of their own. Liverpool's defence isn't as assured this season, which isn't a problem considering they have no issue scoring at the other end, but they've failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 13 games in all competitions.
With Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, "the Firmi" and Div Origi all likely scorers

The Reds midfielder has posted at least one shot in each of the last 13 Premier League games he has been involved in, The stats show that he could probably consider himself unlucky not to have more than two league goals on his tally this season. Against a Bournemouth side who have conceded eight goals in their last four games, the Liverpool midfielder can strike. HOWEVER  MY MotM v everton (with Sadio) Gini worked his socks off, BUT I would give him a rest & propose this formation  3-4-3 giving Naby a start ..
