LIVERPOOL
v newcastle
..and OUR RAFA...
It always seems strange to me, having met the man, watched his training methods in the swiss alps , met him on a bus outside Rotterdam airport , and attended his presentation about the "miracle of Istanbul" .. when he is in charge of an opposing side, and....
Added to that (and of course an element of all modern fan groups is unsavoury) that the geordies are fairly close to scousers in their general mentality ...
and my first experience of them came when I went to my first cup final in 1974 , after a 3-0 battering in Shanks last competitive game as manager of Liverpool, several geordies coming up to me, outside wembley , and shook my hand in congratulations..
The warmth of putting down the man u hordes has still not left most true REdS (see pundits ANAL ysis link , or Robbie & co link or more links & also OUR comments at
/2018/12/rednet-update-liverpool-v-lesser-manc. ) ... I dont like to see Dejan being headlined; talking about "unbeaten season" however..the team goes on..and goes again
wolves 0 LIVERPOOL 2
almost instant match reaction...
Mo & VVD
this may also seem strange... but I would argue that the game that put th REdS 4 points clear of "acclaimed "runaway leaders manciteh fraud club" was probably the WORSE league performance of the season...
\
mind you, a) the ref did nothing to protect LIVERPOOL players from various physical assaults, especially on Naby ...NK got hit 3 times withinabout 10 minutes and it was no surprise he was subbed...
I put him in my proposed selection BUT,, he , Fab and Firm, and to an extent Mane looked like they wanted to be anywhere else what on a an overgrown grass field in wolverhampton tonight..
b) every pass in the Lfc half got slowed down, inviting the wolves ...had the hone side had a decent striker I am convinced the "Dejan we can go unbeaten" campaign would have been annulled
Robbo looked like he had never played for the team before..
However , have to give some credit to the wolves side who allowed him no room to scamper down the left and rhey won far too many of the first & 2nd balls , half time stats showed they were in front of lfc in the attempts...
Mo slotted in a simple move between Fab & Mane, and thats probably what was wrong. on a wet , long grass pitch the away team over complicated moves, Mo arguably could have had another hat trick by simply making an early connection instead of another touch inside their box..
hard to criticise when the REdS go 4 points ahead at the top, but many of our supporters have been here before ..and in 09, and "14 - the squad did not finish the jib, however..
if there is a sign of champions = its getting ANOTHER 3 points without hitting best form...away on a wet night at fancied wolves...
good to see Lalla back in action, sad to see NK injured... nice to see Trent in the crowd..
I have excellent memories of winning a title at wolves in 76 ...
in another 6 months we will know if LIVERPOOL win the "premiere league marathon" ..
on to boxing day!
\
p.s seems to have gone over the heads of a lot of lfc fan nies... Conar Coady, rejected by Jk (Lfc/fsg) ?
is playing CB for a premiere side that is in the top half of the league ,,
well done son...
credit .... !

lease stop the fsg kissing BS! .. they have accumulated income, and increased their assets BEFORE spending ona team worthy of challenge for trophies , and as good as it is now...Lfc have still NOT won a trophy since USA corp infested the Lfc boardroom in 2007 as they exclude the core "working class-soicialist " supporters - so stick it where the sun dont shine, with no apologies :p

ReplyDeletei dont feel that assimilation of another new player is required the bench has looked strong..UNLESS someone exceptional becomes available, I mean better than what is in the squad...i like the message about one game at a time, needs this to get through to some Lfc fans,,, a bit too arrogant, come on REdS get another 3 points v geordies,, our adopted scouse Rafa will get a warm welcome at Anfield - but i hope the newcastle team get nothing :)

Liverpool v Newcastle
ReplyDelete(George Pitts)
If beating Wolves on Friday to put them top of the Christmas charts was not enough, Crystal Palace’s shock win at Manchester City will have given Liverpool a considerable boost.
Jurgen Klopp’s side can keep their lead at the top to at least four points with victory on Wednesday. They are unbeaten and strong at home, so it is difficult to see this game going any other way.
The one threat is coming up against former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, who travels to Anfield on the back of two consecutive clean sheets against relegation rivals, but just one of them resulted in victory. The Magpies have been better away from home so far this season, but this match is a different story, which shows in the betting with them as great as 22/1 for the win.
Top at Christmas: Liverpool celebrate Virgil van Dijk's (left) goal at Wolves
Top at Christmas: Liverpool celebrate Virgil van Dijk's (left) goal at Wolves
They gave Man City a good game at the Etihad earlier in the season but it could be fairly comfortable for the hosts this time. They are much more conservative this term, so expect them to get ahead before the game management kicks in and they see out the result. Therefore Liverpool to win and under 3.5 total goals is a decent option - it takes you to around the evens mark and that tastier price could be worth adding to your selections.
The preferred option though, is to look at more specific markets. Backing 4+ corners each team at around 2/1 looks like a good price considering they average five or more corners per game in 2018/19.
Bookings could be the way to go, though. The Magpies average around two bookings per game in the Premier League this season and once the first card comes out they tend to come in a flurry. With the hosts expected to dominate possession, frustrations could kick in and the foul count could be high against a tricky attack, so backing 20+ Newcastle booking points at above evens looks a good shout for the Anfield clash.
Super 6 prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle (Sky Bet odds: 11/2)
Best bet: 20+ Newcastle booking points at 5/4

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 22 home games against Newcastle in all competitions (W18 D4), with their last such defeat coming in November 1995 in the League Cup (0-1).
Since losing their first ever Premier League home game against Newcastle (0-2 in April 1994), Liverpool are unbeaten in each of the 22 such meetings since (W18 D4).
Liverpool remain the only unbeaten side after 18 Premier League games this season – it’s their third longest unbeaten run from the start of a top-flight campaign after 1987-88 (29 games, finished 1st) and 1949-50 (19 games, finished 8th).
No side has conceded fewer goals at this stage of a top-flight season than Liverpool have shipped so far this season (7, level with Chelsea in 2008-09). Meanwhile, only Huddersfield (11) have scored fewer Premier League goals this season than Newcastle (14).
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been directly involved in eight goals in his last nine games against Newcastle in the Premier League (seven goals and one assist).
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez is winless in his three away games at Anfield against former club Liverpool (D2 L1), losing 0-2 in this fixture last season.
