Opta stats

  • Liverpool remain unbeaten in their last 23 home games against everton in all competitions (W13 D10); they have beaten the Toffees twice at Anfield in the same season for the first time since the 1986-87 campaign.
  • everton have never won away to Liverpool in the FA Cup in six attempts (D4 L2).
  • Liverpool have progressed from the FA Cup third round in eight of their last nine seasons, failing only in 2018-19 after a 2-1 defeat at Wolves.
  • everton have been eliminated from the FA Cup third round in four of the last six campaigns, as many as their previous 20 seasons beforehand.
  • Liverpool have won 23 of their last 25 home games in all competitions (D2), keeping a clean sheet in each of their last five matches at Anfield.
  • Aged 18 years and 340 days, Curtis Jones became Liverpool's youngest goalscorer in a Merseyside derby since Robbie Fowler (18y 338d) in the Premier League in March 1994.
  • Liverpool forward Divock Origi has been directly involved in six goals in his five home Merseyside derby appearances against Everton, scoring five and assisting Curtis Jones’ winner today.
  • Liverpool named three teenagers in their starting XI for a Merseyside derby (Elliott, Williams, Jones) for the first time since October 2012 (Sterling, Suso, Wisdom), a 2-2 draw in the Premier League at Goodison Park under Brendan Rodgers. Indeed, the Reds hadn’t started a single teenager in any of their previous 10 meetings with everton in all competitions before

My favourite merseyside derby,  was being at the 86 final 3-1 (blues end) when we won the double  Kenny's Team...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aATJ1Gyvgo

after the nightmare of Heysell and 3 years before Hillsborough,  we were smiling with a bunch of mates (REdS & blues) stayed at my house, because I was based down south..  now its got commercial infestation with USAcorp sharks & sponsors sucking every cent they can out of our supporters

and how can any TRUE REd forget.. 1989 ...
the emotion after Hillsborough...in the final , again

p.s. feck Ancelotti, remind him how Rafa done him in '05  final (ISTANBUL)

Liverpool vs everton Opta stats

  • Liverpool and everton have met in the FA Cup 24 times previously, making it the most played match in the history of the competition.everton have played five away matches against Liverpool in the FA Cup – four have been drawn and gone to replays, though the most recent match in January 2018 was won 2-1 by the Reds.
  • Liverpool have lost each of their last two FA Cup matches, losing to West Brom in January 2018 and Wolves in January 2019 – they haven’t lost three in a row in the competition since January 1954.
  • everton have been eliminated in the FA Cup third round in three of the last five seasons, having been eliminated at this stage in just three of the previous 16 before that.
  • Liverpool striker Divock Origi has scored in all four of his home matches against everton in all competitions, including a brace in their 5-2 Premier League win in December 2019.

its Likely Div will start sunday;   mainscream opinion that JK will play "the kids" or ressies... fringe players, but as JK reminded everyone with so many injuries.. Fab, Shaq, Naby, Matip, Dejan, Clyne, Rhian, Ox, ..etc...

& 13kms ran by the players each, on thursday,...... could be tired & jaded BUT its V he blues, a merseyside derby, and Lfc have gone out to premiere class opponents (funny that? whilst blue mancs get lower division teams in each domestic comp) in the last 2 season... in this 3rd round..   so  ..  I propose ;  starting 11 (but its also possible JK plays the top 11 as there is almost week before going away to Maureen's spurs in London (the biggest "pause" since a couple of months..??

                                 Adrian

                        Joe        Nat (Phillips)

Williams (Nico)       Adam            Milly

                    Tak (Mina.)       Jones

                                   Elliot
                                            Mane
                       Origi.

I would tell the above to fight and run the blues ragged
then have Bobby & Mo, Hendo off the bench at 50-55 mins.

whoever plays if you have  50% of  that what Emlyn had , you stand a chance ..

the game on sunday against wolves will have taken its toll, the away team worked hard and probably gave the REdS  the hardest task of the season at Anfield.....I propose that JK will rotate more than on sunday, MANe, Mo , Gini, Hendo worked hard.. (see above report)  so I would tend to slot in  3 or 4 players (even VVD if the other CB's were fit) as he made a couple of rare errors.. the sheffiedl side will make it tough ...so the LIVERPOOL TEAM needs to be 200% and fresh to keep our momentum up..and the chance to go a full year unbeaten inthe league and hopefully another 3 points..         Joe was my MotM v wolves..

MainSCREAMedia;  (edited by CRS)

January 3 2019 was the date of Liverpool's last Premier League defeat (at the blue mancs>>>) so if they avoid a huge upset against Anfield they'll complete a calendar year of invincibility. They looked a tired side towards the end of their 1-0 win over Wolves, but  wilder's side must surely also be feeling the pace having played at citeh on Sunday and now complete the herdest double-header imaginable by facing the runaway league leaders four days later.
In this busy period the team-sheets are of course important, but with Jurgen  claiming to only have 13 senior players to pick from due to injuries, the same ten that have lined up for most of the last two games will go again, with just one midfield space to be filled by either Adam Lallana, James Milner or Naby Keita.
It's a sign of how well sheffield have done this season that their defeat at the etihad was their first away loss of the season - they've also not lost consecutive games in the league this term but have it all to do to continue that run on Merseyside. The tactical battle will be fascinating as both sides are dangerous in wide areas, and just how the flying full-backs in REd get on against united's overlapping centre halves will be crucial. Energy levels are also key as both sides like to press hard and high, and the away side will not be coming just for a day out at the would-be new champions.
LIVERPOOL's squad have made Anfield a real fortress though and they’ve even rediscovered their defensive solidity in the league with four clean sheets in a row coming after Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk renewed their excellent partnership. The visitors themselves are tough nuts to crack on their travels as they concede less than a goal a game so we may be in short supply of goal mouth action in this one with wilder's well-drilled unit happy to soak up pressure. They had just 27 percent of the ball at citeh and it could be a similar story here.
Liverpool's haven't lost at home to a promoted side since 2010 and only three times in Premier League history has a newcomer won at the league leaders, so the stats are against the shock result, but a draw definitely comes into play if Liverpool struggle to break down the visiting defence. So we'll play for a home win and not too many goals, under 2.5 is a real possibility but you never know how tired legs will recat late on in games and with Liverpool's attack there's always a chance of a few late ones spoiling the visitors party

Liverpool v sheff utd Opta stats

  • Liverpool won the reverse fixture against Sheffield United 1-0, and are looking to do the league double over the sheffield for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign.
  • sheffield  have won just one of their last 13 away games against Liverpool in all competitions (D1 L11), picking up a 2-1 win in the Premier League in April 1994.
  • Under Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool have won all 11 of their home league games against promoted sides by an aggregate score of 33-4. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 26 such games at Anfield since losing 1-2 against Blackpool in October 2010  (Hodgson )(W21 D5).
  • Liverpool have won their first league game in just one of the last five calendar years (D2 L2). They lost their first league game of 2019 against Man City, their only Premier League defeat of 2018-19.
  • sheffield   beat everton 2-0 at goodison park earlier this season – they’ve not won away against both Merseyside clubs in the same league campaign since 1965-66, a season that saw Liverpool win the league and Everton win the FA Cup.
  • Liverpool are looking to keep five consecutive Premier League clean sheets for the first time since September 2007 under Rafa .
  • In Premier League history, only three newly-promoted teams have won away from home against a team starting the day top of the table – ipswich at norwich in December 1992, derby at man utd in April 1997 and hull at arsenal in September 2008 (P63 W3 D12 L48).
  • Liverpool’s Sadio Mane was involved in 21 goals in his 19 Premier League home games in 2019, scoring 18 and assisting three at Anfield; more than any other Premier League player at home in the calendar year.

  • No keeper has kept more Premier League clean sheets than sheffield ’s dean henderson this season (7). Among all goalkeepers to play more than once this term, only Liverpool’s Alisson (one every 185 minutes) has a better minutes per goal conceded ratio than henderson (one every 107 minutes).

and this is amusing...   (dont agreed with some of it..)

  1. FFS and, i thought my videos are in need of improvement, ..NO .. it did not start to go wrong at Chelski... when Lfc forced Rafa out and brought in woy,. that was the beginning of the decline, Rafa & Nando respected each other, and Torres had his best years at LIVERPOOL, but, the fool hiodgson played "ale house footy" expecting Nando to play a solo role up front ,,, and got kciked to bits , and his injuries increased and desire waned, Kenny came in but it was too late as the lad had already decided to go .. he had monents in London & Madrid, but I blame the sharks then & now (who shoudl have re-instated Rafa( for ruining a beautiful taklent who gave me so many great memories in those european campaigns .. slalom at Marseille, winnier in Milan, battering real at Anfield etc (and of course that "Vidic hunting" goal at OT thanks Fernando, no thanks "goalside" :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zztFhwnjdA
