LIVERPOOL v brenda n & bogey leicester
preview (?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5yTSjrZSPs
when i was a kid they were a "bogey team" until Kevin battered them in a cup game..
since then though, they are sometimes, still, a problem, like last season home draw (on ice) when LIVERPOOL were ahead of citeh in the table..
perhaps the "drama tuesday" is a warning to put in effort v BR's side saturday afternoon there may be a shout to include Ox or Naby from the start to inject fresh legs .. if Shaq is really "injured"
and maybe play "the Firm" off the bench as Origi looked fresher too. Bobby puts so much into games..
I would probably start with (if all fit)
Adrian
Joe & VVD
Trent Fab Robbo
Milly Naby
the Firm (or Div)
Mane & Mo... ((both as twin strikers )

Alex Keble looks at the tactics Brendan Rodgers needs to use to beat former club Liverpool when Leicester visit Anfield on Saturday.
"Not since leicester City’s title-winning campaign in 2015/16 have English football’s biggest clubs suffered a collective paralysis on the scale seen so far this season, and although the stakes are lower for rodgers’ team the similarities are not lost on Foxes’ supporters. They sense another seismic shift in power, another chance to usurp the Premier League royals.
On strength of personnel alone leicester are Champions League material and yet what really separates Leicester from the rest of the aspirational middle-class is the tactical nous of their manager. In just a few short months rodgers has swept aside the tedium of the Claude Puel era, has reinvigorated the players with an intricate and innovative strategy that gives leicester the most rarefied of traits: identity... .Every Premier League club yearns for a ‘Way’ these days, a symptom of the narrowing scope of achievements open to the vast majority; in an era of competitive stasis, identity – something to grab onto, a sense of meaning - is found not in tangible success but in the abstract. The ‘West Ham Way’ is suddenly important when the measure of on-field success is restricted to the differences between finishing sixth and ninth.
And so it is a marvel that rodgers has already streamlined leicester into something so coherent, so easy to define in a few choice words: they press hard, transition quickly, and attack vertically; a mini-Liverpool, only funnelled through dual playmakers in the citeh mould. Belief in what their manager is trying to build has already united the players around a common goal, and as the 5-0 victory against Newcastle United showed, this team is ready to make the top four
(snip)
All that’s lacking is self-belief
But rodgers is his own worst enemy at the moment. He appears to lack the self-belief to be adventurous in the bigger matches, abandoning the above system for a more conservative 4-3-3 against Tottenham, Man Utd, and Chelsea this season. Against Liverpool on Saturday, he will probably once again pick Choudhury, shunting Maddison out to the left flank." ...blah blah blah ,,see article link...
AND...
domestic LEAGUE too please!?? |
SPlife (edited by CRS) | " A huge game for title hopefuls Liverpool going into the international break - a shame this is not on TV as it could be a cracker...
brodgers makes his return to Anfield with high-flying leicester and he will have learned from their away defeat at man U last month about how they approach games on the road against top-six rivals.(CRS> ? man u?)
For all Liverpool's positives this term, with seven wins from seven and 16 in a row in the league in total, they have kept just two clean sheets so far and surrendered a three-goal lead at home to salzburg on Wednesday before Mo Salah eventually finishing the game off.
leicester showed last week alone, with the help of Newcastle of course, that they know where the back of the net is by scoring five, tielemans seems to be a classy operator in midfield since arriving, initially on loan, from Monaco in January & has a goal and assist to his name this season, but he has had a shot in all seven of their Premier League games, registering at least three in one game on four occasions.& had four attempts against Newcastle and, with vardy and barnes hoping to stretch the Liverpool defence tielemans could find space in his supporting role , & leicester may miss maddison if that ankle problem continues to keep him sidelined, but they will give it a good go on Rodgers' return to Merseyside and Tielemans has the quality to strike.
But Mane was on fire again for the first goal Tuesday!..will he do it v leicester??? |
Key stats
- Liverpool’s current run of 16 consecutive Premier League victories is the second longest ever in English top-flight history,
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 43 home league games (W33 D10) – the longest current run in the top five European leagues, and Liverpool’s second longest ever in top-flight history. Their previous best of 63 between February 1978-December 1980 was eventually ended by leicester.
- Since brodgers was appointed leicester manager, only Liverpool (49) and the blue mancs (46) have won more Premier League points than the foxes (31).
- leicester striker vardy has scored seven Premier League goals against Liverpool –
- If Sadio Mane scores, it will be his 50th Premier League goal for Liverpool in his 100th appearance for the club. He will also be the 10th different player to score 50 in the competition for the Reds, more than any other club.
