REdNET update ; consistently unpredictable...but...through to the final LIVERPOOL 7 aroma 6

LIVERPOOL 7- @"aroma"* 6
(aggregate result of semi finals)

*"aroma" ... contrary to the opinions of a certain G. Roberts of the @nfield wrapper .. i understand Tony Evans rather cynical warning... its carries weight ..I personally experienced living abroad and the bile of the "ultra brigade"  is opposite to the socialist Kopite Red Army faction.. ;) ....a cultural difference which cant be offset by the antics of english holligans spoiling THEIR reputation by P*ssing in roman fountains...

Roma & Romans their capaitalist creed, their historical hierachy & their modern ultras carry some inhuman traits that Gareth choses to ignore or is simply ignorant,,  so he and his TAW buddies had some "VIP" hospitality..

Angelo picks them up from the airport , takes them for a pizza, all nice.. but I wont apologise for reminding readers how many Supporters have been injured here.. violently attacked and intimidated, and ask Dundee Utd supporters how they feel about "aroma"  ... the romans admitted a massive bribe to the referee so that their side could play v LIVERPOOL in the 1984 final...

Karma intervened and the Souness - led REds trimphed in the olympic stadium in May 1984...after pens and the unlikely heroes of Bruce , and "that Kennedy" won through...

in 2001 and last week outside the "Albert" shows that it was wise to warn of these "habits" continue to this day..

about the game..  extremes , as jekyll & hyde as this team may be its hard to be a critic after getting to the first major european final since '07... (when AC Milan reversed the fortunes of Istanbul '05) ...

Montenegro
below I have written more about the game, you should have heard me in walton breck road, when (as I am an exiled Red based in the Balkans )

Mane thumped in the opening goal...because, i had said and even believed that an early goal for LIVERPOOL killed the game, however the "cavalier" aspects of this squad , never fail to amaze me, as much as JK seems to ride his luck... its "brave"  .. but not intelligent..

...how many times has this team been coasting and let teams back into it, the "robin hood" joke is too close to the truth for my taste... I cant say I enjoyed the game,,.(the eventual result, yes...) the first half perhaps the freak goal by Milly (OG) made me smile, as if fate was also making the tie "interesting"  (as in the first game when Milly was adjudged to have handled ...a punishment apparently ignored in the premiere league when Lfc are attacking...) and at the end .. CL linesmen should lend their specs to the EPL ones when Lfc attack..?
;)

I really hope Milly, for one gets a winners medal , whilst rightly so many applaud the "Fab 3" he worked his socks off , especially in these games against citeh and aroma...

and Mane,  reminded me of a modern day Peter Thompson, who used to entertain the Anfield crowd by beating defenders , then going back and beating them again with incredible dribbling..  mind you "duracell Robbo: did a few of those too in the first half.,..and yet..

looked at the Tv close up of the faces of Firmino &co.. they were spent after an hour.. thats why i cant yet call JK a "great manager"  (sorry Stevie, not can i back up your opinion of the USAcorp infestors who allowed Phil to leave in january)  ...

He is arguably an excellent coach, motivator, but must win a major trophy, IMO., to be in the :world class: status, and instill , or allow the players to "possess" the ball when well in front...sure its exciting, but arguably I dont need a heart attack experience... :) ..espcially when they only had 11 "regulars" to see this tie out..?

sure , the next day, now , in calm i can look forward to the final.. in a way ..but also not knowing if Lfc "will be ready"  ..i have hope in my heart , always... but please a little more sun, and less "wind & rain"

congrats lads , all the same.. well done (!) shame you have another big game on sunday, at the rent blues... because you deserve a "few ribenas" (Milly)..  and Trent .. a sherbert!

tonight Lfc goals by Mane, Wijn (and Milly OG freak OG for them)

Highlights ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpizu3cuA2U

Here i am exiled in Montenego a REd Alien a.k.a. #censoRED

I don't go back for games since a while as protest of the ticket prices and v USAcorp... but I was the only one who let out such a loud shout when Mane, finally showed his original form tonight and banged in the opening goal...

but at 60 minutes looking at the faces of the players , they were exhausted whilst a stream of home side attacks were coming like a SCENE FROM "zULU" ...

their defence focused on stopping MO. but thankfully Mane was taking the initiative and looked again the player who was last season's star! ...

if it hadn't been for the freaky OG when Dejans clearance cannoned off the square head of Milly, I think Lfc could have put it to bed before half time..

The ref had already ignored our pen shout and de Rossi nasty kick on Mo... although Mo seemed at "half speed" this time..

Trent was targeted and I wondered why JK didn't use Clyne earlier , as the lad was suffering from so many attacks coming down their left , the Lfc RB area....

and there you go, how many times have i warned about making a defensive change giving more emphasis to opponents.. Lfc were so tired , Trent missed an interception, and Karius shoudl have put the ball behind instead of parry into Djeko s path ,,,,

anyway the tired REds survived the last half hour , and a last minute pen arguably gave the home side a result they deserved for not giving up...mind you they had 3 fresh players on, whilst JK waited,,,

I expect the usual 50,000 support in Kiev for the final, with or without tickets, and playing in RED... (i don't like the way this team seems not to be on form when in white shirts? ...I wanted them in that shocking orange strip...)

... lets see the modern support continuing our "REd Army" traditions at finals... make it the best RED army that eastern europe has ever seen !

Liverpool repel Roma fightback to make final (uefa report!)
Wednesday 2 May 2018

Liverpool suffered a first defeat this season at Roma, but did enough to reach their eighth European Cup final.

Liverpool survived a Roma onslaught in the Stadio Olimpico to reach an eighth European Cup final after a tie that equalled the record for the most goals in a two-legged UEFA Champions League contest.Trailing 5-2 after the game on Merseyside, Roma's hopes of mounting another remarkable comeback suffered a knock within nine minutes as Radja Nainggolan's pass was cut out by Roberto Firmino, and the Brazilian slid through for Sadio Mané to shoot past Alisson Becker

Within six minutes Roma were revived in bizarre circumstances, Trent Alexander-Arnold's clearance ricocheting off James Milner and back past Loris Karius to leave the Giallorossi needing three goals once more. Although Alisson denied Mané with his feet, that became four in the 25th minute, Edin Džeko heading a corner into the path of Georginio Wijnaldum, who nodded his first UEFA Champions League goal.
Milner nearly inadvertently helped Roma back into it again as he got in the way of Stephan El Shaarawy's effort, the ball spinning away from Karius and against the left-hand post. The goalkeeper was called into action again early in the second half, pushing away El Shaarawy's shot only as far as Džeko, who buried the rebound.
Substitute Cengiz Ünder, El Shaarawy and Džeko again all went close as Roma pressed, while it took a smart Alisson stop to prevent Firmino restoring Liverpool's lead on the night. With four minutes left Nainggolan found the net from range via a post, and then smashed in a penalty in the final seconds after Ragnar Klavan had been penalised, but time ran out for Roma.

Key player: Edin Džeko (Roma)

His goals have fuelled Roma's pursuit of a dream trip to Kyiv and it seemed only right that he scored again on this, the Giallorossi's final night in Europe this season. The Bosnian has scored in five straight #UCL games and while this goal was not as valuable as his others, it still showed his class as one of Europe's top predators, underlined time and time again this season.

Reporter talking points

Ben Gladwell, Roma: Roma will have no regrets about tonight, but that blackout at Anfield will be on their minds. Had a few breaks gone their way we could have been talking about another miracle here, but they left themselves too big a mountain to climb after the first leg and, this time, Di Francesco's men could not quite scale it. They will be proud of the win on the night; now the focus turns to ensuring they qualify for the #UCL again next season and then, who knows, go a step further.
Matthew Howarth, Liverpool: The visitors came under intense pressure in the second half but their two away goals before the interval left the hosts with too much to do. It's been a remarkable UEFA Champions League campaign for Klopp's side, whatever happens in Kyiv on 26 May, but this team will fancy their chances of beating serial winners Real Madrid in the Ukrainian capital.

Reaction

Eusebio Di Francesco, Roma coach: "The lads have done something extraordinary and I can assure you it’s not easy for players, after gifting two goals to go 2-1 down, to come back. It was almost a perfect game. This has go to convince us that we can compete at these levels.”

Klopp: It's just amazing
Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool manager: "It was the first semi-final for most of the boys - it's completely normal that you have to keep your nerve in situations like this. We deserve it 100%. It's right that we lost the game tonight, but Real needed luck last night and against Juve in the last round. We have two weeks to prepare for the final. Let's go there and try our best."

Key stats

  • 13 goals in the tie equals the #UCL record: Bayern 12-1 Sporting in 2008/09
  • Liverpool's third #UCL final, and first since 2007
  • Reds lost last unbeaten record in this season's competition
  • Klopp's side havescored 40 goals in 2017/18 #UCL
  • Mané has nine goals in his last eight #UCL appearances
  • Nainggolan scored his first #UCL goals in his 24th outing
  • Džeko has now scored in five successive #UCL matches____________________________

  1. Naby may seem the replacement for Phil... but will aggression..I feel though, as JK makes this squad younger, he has season by season lost experiece... Lucas, probably Milly will not be as regular next season..http://www.getfootballnewsgermany.com/2018/feature-what-naby-keitas-final-season-at-rb-leipzig-means-for-his-future-liverpool-career/
