210920/27 ; SUPPORTERS CLUB log uodating League & Cup
210925 brentford v LIVERPOOL saturday evening 25 september ~21
I am tempted to make "the office " jokes & comments (david Brent?) ...but if the TEAM is not prepared this could
be hard, the london-ish side have had a decent start to their (first?) season at the top domestic league, scoring well & conceding few..
WE avoid those players who played Tuesday night , as likely Juergen will continue protecing players,
whilst we recall that REd players of our youth played 60-70 games on heavy pitches... anyway
Whilst we like / prefer Joe with VVD at the back Joel has done enough to be current first choice with VVD
at CB ... then wing half / back Trent & Robbo flank Fab the protector///... a (hopefully rested) Milly
comes in with fresh Hendo to outfght the brentfors midfield and with Bobby and the service assited by Trent & Robbo
feed record-breaking scorers MANe & Mo
Nath must be itching for a game, if brent go "route one" /// ? ...after 60 mins ; from Curtis, Ox, Tako & Diogo all
of whom need to be sharper, whilst Kostas will feel unlucky to be understudy to fit again Robbo!

with kells saving a pen, Tako on fire, and the much maligned (by the "experts" at redmen/daytrippers/and the anfield *rap)
Origi from another great assisted cross from Kostas... good reports on all bar Ox who was again (apparently)"quiet" ?

...LiVERPooL 3 MANe s 100th! Mo (again) & a cracker from Naby! v palace
I am pleased but not as estatic as some although REdS are 3 points clear of recent years rivals (the blue manc fraud club of citeh!) I understand the reasons, some out of his control, after last seasons
FUBAR non-campaign led to about THIRTY changes in the defensive unit!
Its a rare TEAM who manages to be top without a Strong and consistentdefensive UNIT (UNIT!) ... JK may argue that he needs to rotate to keep the 4/5 CB's fresh & fit; in which case Nath is likely to get a run out in the cup at Norwich tuesday... ok
BUT if its my TEAM SQUAD.. and different already in my priorities
(as he is apparently under fen way sharks ORDERS to qualify at
least for the following champs league, at least..
I would prefer number SEVEN (see video?) in St Petersburg next May;
WE are a EUROPEAN club! ..no brexit BS, and i hate the english
plastic money league and its TV money dominated mafia! ...
I would have the CORE of 2 basic Teams..
and play Joe & "KonG" (my nickname for Konate as he is as MASSIVE as VVD!
and seemed capable of muscling out the big palace forwards ..)
as my European/FA cup pairing at CB (they are NOT centre-halves in the LIVERPOOL system as they are the last line in front of our GK!)
and play Matip & VVD in the league games ... ! with Nath getting the occasional league cup or games when a basic defender is required against the sides who want to "go rough , route one & arial" ...
probably Fab would be needed in the league, but Kostas could share with Robbo.. and perm any 3 from 5 (MANe, Mo, Diogo, Bobby & Div) between both ...
midfield ; Fab, Thiago & Hendo being first choice ; with maybe Hendo dropping into right wing-half if Trent is injured or needs rest
Kells would be my GK for the European & cup games with Adian only seen in emergency, (although I dont have as many doubts as other fans
about him) ...
Ox, Naby, Tako, Curtis & Milly being rotated ..according to form & opposition.
as for the game v palace;
...The "modern Kop " were singing "show them the way to go home" at the end, before Y N W A..
thats abit unfair on palace , (usually song reserved for a rowt or walkover, an easy victory)
this game was not easy, as Jk admitted , a hard fought , albeit 3-0 win, before the first goal ,had the away side taken a n early chance or 2 or had a (maybe) pen (on a different day, with a different ref) or around the 70 minute mark before the 2nd goal
had a lot of pressure on our TEAM's goal/////...
rotating defenders, IMO, unless forced, is unwise///...(see above)
Mo is on fire , and MANE getting there ... DioGO surpisingly , without the competition with Bobby, seems
off form , although few should question his efforts...
....the midfield trio of Fab , Hendo & Thiago were made busy by a palace side who pressed and played football..
who defended sharply and with numbers ...all three goals came from corners,
a sharp Mo header from Kostas near post cross, caused the first by Sadio pouncing like the Tiger he is
on the loose ball after their keepers save/// /....the 2bd from a deflection when VVD attempted to get on the end of another Kostas corners,
Mo pounced!! loved that he didnt care about a yellow card for taking off his shirt (silly rule
.. and then their GK punched Millys corner out to Naby who vllied back into the bottom corners of their net!!
There were a lot of blocked shots, a few missed chances (Jota!) ...but not easily opened up palace, they are going to cause a few teams problems this season if Viera can keep them playing like this...
so "KonG" had a decent home debut, Milly "sorted" Wilfred Saha, old school; and one tackle by the "senior"
in for the sick (not BS virus!! JK said!!!) Trent, had a palace player flying through the air like he had just ran
into a concrete step... ;) nice!!!
I hope the goal by Naby gives him courage to step up and BE "that box to box player" ...
(ONE player who has NOT flouished with Juergen....!) ..Thiago injured..Curtis on for Jota
Bobby back in traing this coming week...not in time for the Norwich leaggue cup game...
I would give KonG a run out againt at CB with Nath .. (goodness help the norwich forwards..ha ha )
Kells also shoudlget a game, Kostas & as Nico is inured(?) i would stay with Milly holding ..OX at right wing half
Div comes in and i would give the "Bobby job" behind Diogo & Div with Mo & MANe on the bench
to .Curtis .or Tako? so our PROPOSAL (never a "prediction"
Kells
Nath KonG
Ox Milly Kostas
Curtis Naby
Tako
Div Diogo

ChRiS SMITH,
You get the feeling Pep is due to go full Maximus any day. 'Are you not entertained?'
For
now he's taking a more passive-aggressive approach to the rumbling
furore about Man City's empty seats during the nine-goal thriller with
Leipzig midweek.
The
City gaffer had called for supporters to back his team in greater
numbers in tomorrow's 3pm kickoff against Southampton, having noted the
now customary indifference to a 'big European night' among the City
faithful.
After something of a backlash from supporters groups, Pep is unapologetic today,
starting off with a sniffy take it or leave it: "If you want to come
it's a pleasure, if you don't then don't." Before progressing seamlessly
to the notion he might take his ball home altogether: "I will never be a
problem for the fans," he said. "If I am a problem I will step aside."
Ah, you'd know the GAA was wrapped up, now we're back to the bread and butter of confected Premier League 'controvassy'.
Fill yourself up on the rest of the juice from today's pressers as the day goes on here.
But if you've a sweet tooth, might be best to give Tommy Martin's overloaded dessert trolley on Man United's abstemious week a wide berth.
Once upon a time, the inter-county season would have at least been extended by a few days to take in the famous GOAL challenge. Paul Rouse recalls the glory days
when All-Ireland champions would take on a Best of the Rest selection —
and "men who had sought to tear each other apart now joined in a good
cause".
Instead, a new Examiner tradition in recent years has been the winner's diary. This week, Tyrone hero Niall Morgan takes us behind the scenes through breakfast Coco-Pops, homework passes, pre-match poems and the Backstreet Boys.
Before drawing a final line under the final, Eimear Ryan wonders why the fallout from another Mayo defeat always seems to toss Lee Keegan and Aidan O'Shea as two very different sides of the same coin.
And Kieran Shannon reminds us that Tyrone won because they were the most tactically adaptable team in the championship
The club scene is only cranking up, of course. You can catch another live game on Examiner Sport this evening, when Kanturk face Blarney in Cork Senior A hurling at 8pm in Mallow.
And parish pride will bring added spice to this weekend's Kerry SHC decider.
In
case you'd forgotten, the blue and yellow goldfish are ordered, the
celebrity moticational speakers are booked, and Ryder Cup hysteria is
almost upon us. Dr Ed Coughlan examines why Europe seems to get team spirit right more often than the USA.
A few other reads:
Former Munster man James Coughlan on a new life in Toulon.
Graham Cummins warns us not to gag the few characters left in football
And Stephen Ferris says Duane Vermeulen can be gamechanger for Ulster.
Finally,
it might be a quieter week than we've become used to, but there's still
quite a menu to gorge yourself on. Here's the full guide to all the sport on the box this weekend...
Enjoy it.
