CL update...Liverpool v Ludo.. :) and remembering Rafa s wonder Team (04-06) etc

14917  http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/three-players-watch-ahead-liverpool-7779275                Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Manquillo, Moreno, Lovren, Sakho, Gerrard, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana, Balotelli.
Substitutes: Jones, Enrique, Toure, Lucas, Suso, Borini, Lambert.        There is a lack of Champions League experience in the Liverpool side with Mignolet, Moreno, Henderson, Lallana, Sterling all making their debuts in Europe's premier competition.          (more importantly most are new to REdS shirts!!)

Liverpool 1-0 Ludogorets (Balotelli)
Relief for Liverpool. Absolute relief. Balotelli receives the ball in the box and after getting it under control, prods home with the outside of his right boot.
Balotelli almost has a second! He picks the ball up on the left, drives on to his right and fires the ball towards goal. The keeper makes the save. Liverpool 1-1 Ludogorets (Abalo)

The substitute scores. A brilliant through ball is run on to by the Spaniard, who rounds Mignolet and slots into an empty net.                 Liverpool 2-1 Ludogorets (Gerrard pen)
Manquillo presses brilliant and Ludogorets get themselves in a muddle. The goalkeeper brings him down and Gerrard steps up to convert.                   FULL-TIME: Steven Gerrard's stoppage-time penalty gives #LFC a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ludogorets at Anfield                                                                                     Balo ist Lfc goal; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgDVoFLKl9A                    http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/170862-stevie-settles-late-drama-in-lfc-favour

http://www.thisisanfield.com/2014/09/rafa-benitez-explains-fernando-torres-helping-hand-liverpool-signing-raheem-sterling/            Rafa :  "Our then academy boss Frank McParland came up to me one day and said, ‘I’ve seen this player – we’ve been following him for a while and I think he’s got something.’    =        “Fernando was there – and I think Steven Gerrard, too. But definitely Fernando.I explained what Raheem and his mum were doing and I told Fernando what we thought of the young player we had brought in.
“He had a quick chat with him, asking how he was getting on. He was interested in him.
“Raheem was really pleased – and you could see his mum was, too – really impressed that the club’s biggest players had made a fuss of him.”      His emergence from squad player to first-team regular over the last year has been quite remarkable, with the 19-year-old playing an instrumental part in the Reds’ title chase last season.

Now Sterling embarks on a new chapter in his career as Liverpool played the  first Champions League game in almost five years on Tuesday night.
